Charitable Giving

The mission of the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas is to promote emotional resilience by understanding the mind through psychoanalytic education, practice, and service. Because the PCC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your gifts to support our mission are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Why Donate to the PCC?

  • We provide the only post-graduate training program in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the Carolinas.
  • We are the only membership organization of mental health professionals who practice psychoanalytic therapy in the Carolinas. We assist members to deepen their skills and advance their careers through supervision/consultation, group study, and continuing education programs.
  • The PCC is a resource for connecting patients seeking treatment with skilled psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic psychotherapists through its free referral service.
  • The PCC builds secure relationships in families by sponsoring the psychoanalytic, attachment-based Circle of Security Parenting program. Since 2016 we have trained 240 group leaders who serve parents in the community. The PCC gives 50% scholarships for training to non-profit staff who serve disadvantaged families.
  • The PCC Faculty created the Peaceful Schools Program in partnership with educators, bringing psychoanalytic mentalization theory to bear on the problem of school violence. This program has been adopted by Carolina Friends School, currently serving five schools in North Carolina and Georgia.

Ways to Give

Your gift to the PCC is an investment in the future of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy and is instrumental in promoting its life-changing benefits. There are many ways donors can make a contribution to our work.

We hope you will consider making a donation to the PCC’s Annual Fund. Your gift supports core organizational functions not fully covered by membership dues and tuition, including our training programs in Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, the Psychoanalytic Referral Service, MindPlay, and Circle of Security Parenting.

For larger gifts to the PCC during your lifetime, pledges may be paid over several years. Many donors use this option when making large gifts to support particular programs or initiatives, such as the Craige Fund for Building Organizational Capacity and our scholarship funds for psychoanalytic education.

Planned Gifts
You can remember the PCC by leaving a gift in your will or estate plan. A planned gift may allow you to give more than you ever thought possible and, at the same time, you may experience tax advantages or income for a number of years or life. Planned gifts may be given to be used at the discretion of the board or designated for a specific purpose. Further, they may be designated as endowment funds (see below) or as funds to be spent as needed to support the PCC.

General Endowment
Endowment gifts to the PCC are invested for long-term growth and provide funds in perpetuity for the organization. Your gift of any asset – cash, stock, life insurance, or real estate – allows flexibility to capitalize on unforeseen opportunities or address financial emergencies. The PCC draws out a small percentage of the endowment each year, usually less than 5%, to support its programs. Endowment gifts to support a specific purpose must be $100,000 or greater.
