As the holiday season approaches, we have much to celebrate at the PCC. Our community continues to thrive, welcoming new members, additional faculty, and a growing number of trainees into our program. This year, we reached an all-time high of 32 matriculated students and 236 members, and we proudly celebrated four new PCC graduates – the largest graduating class since 1991.

Next year marks a monumental milestone: 60 years of serving the Carolinas as an independent psychoanalytic training program. As stewards of this legacy, we honor the vision and dedication of those who founded the institute, society, and foundation, and of those who have guided the evolution of the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas. To commemorate this milestone, we are planning a series of special anniversary events throughout the year. These celebrations will culminate in a public lecture on November 15th featuring Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, a distinguished voice in the field of psychological trauma.

The Board remains committed to strengthening our community and expanding the reach of psychoanalytic thought to broader audiences. After listening to many of you, it is clear that in-person events are essential for fostering a strong professional network and a sense of connection. In response, we are organizing local membership events across North and South Carolina. These gatherings will offer opportunities for conversation, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas, as well as a platform to share your vision for the next 60 years of PCC’s growth and impact.

Finally, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the many individuals who contribute to our shared success—whether through time, talent, or resources. Your dedication ensures that psychoanalytic thought continues to flourish and make a profound impact on individuals and society. To every student, faculty member, director, committee chair, and member of our psychoanalytic community: thank you.

You are the heart of our mission to deepen our understanding of the human mind and promote personal and professional growth. Your voice, ideas, and perspectives are vital to our continued success, and the Board looks forward to partnering with you as we chart a path forward. Together, we will ensure that the PCC remains a beacon of excellence for generations to come.

Happy Holidays,

Jill Dunn
PCC President
