405 – Acting Out and Enactments

Description:    This course will focus on the therapist’s conscious and unconscious reactions to their patients and how they can best be worked with and understood. We will cover concepts of repeating, acting out, countertransference, projective identification, and enactment. Presentation of clinical material by participants will be essential for the success of this course. 

Target Audience: This course is appropriate for intermediate through advanced students, as well as clinicians with extensive experience who have permission of the instructor. 

Prerequisite: This class is open to matriculated Psychoanalytic Adult or Adult/Child students who have completed all or nearly all of the core curriculum.  Some exceptions to the requirements that the psychoanalytic student has finished all or nearly all of the core curriculum may be made by the psychoanalysis program. Other interested students must have the permission of the instructor.
